About Edgar's Spear
Edgar’s Spear pulls quarterly and annual filings directly from the SEC’s EDGAR database and converts the raw XBRL data into the numbers analysts actually use — true single‑quarter revenue and income instead of the cumulative year‑to‑date totals EDGAR reports, plus a growing library of CFA‑style ratios calculated from those same filings.
Where the name comes from
EDGAR is the SEC's own name for its filing system — Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval. This app exists to get past the surface of a filing and straight to the numbers inside it, which is where "Spear" comes from.
What's on each plan
All accounts include free search, filings, and quarter-by-quarter charts are available to everyone with an account. Plus adds a set of core ratios — margins, liquidity, leverage, returns on assets and equity. Pro adds a further set of more specialized ratios, CSV/JSON export, and first access as new formulas ship. Current pricing is always on the Plans panel in the app itself, not repeated here, so there's exactly one place it can go out of date.
Data and its limits
Every number here traces back to a real filing on sec.gov, linked directly from the interface. Quarter figures for revenue and income are derived by subtracting EDGAR's cumulative year-to-date XBRL values, which is standard practice but still a derived number, not a line SEC filers report directly. Treat everything here as directional analysis to work from, not a substitute for reading the filing itself.
